God preordained, for his own glory and the display of His attributes of mercy and justice, a part of the human race, without any merit of their own, to eternal salvation, and another part, in just punishment of their sin, to eternal damnation.

John Calvin

Lord tell me if I’m loving wrong, cuz I don’t wanna sound like I’m judging in a bunch of songs. Or do they just feel like I’m judging cuz the last hundred of em failed to tell them it was something wrong? So now I come along speaking all truth to em but they’re so used to the lies, the truth’s new to em. So now the same words that should’ve confirmed what they already heard, come across like breaking news to em. But when you’ve inhaled, and evil seems good and good seems bad cuz bad is following the rules that… metaphorically speaking, this world’s evil, and good’s breaking the rules and doesn’t seem to be cool here. See when you judge wrong and folks start getting tight, but the same hypocrites that judge you for living right, like if him saying thugging is wrong is judging you then calling him a square for not thugging is judging too. We all love to defend the guy pushing bricks, like “Homie is just trying to provide for his kids”. But what about that guy whose kids are the fiends, but in trying to protect them he dies cuz he snitched? See I’m just trying to balance out your scale so you weigh it right, cuz we dun learned the rules wrong and now we aint playing right. Trained hypocrites, like that dude that’s a cheater but he finds out his chick does it too and he beats her. We’re all bias, we’re all selfish, we’re all prideful and programmed to act hellish. But this Bible, it reminds me of where I came from. Through Christ I am no longer who this cruel world raised up.

Can I Brag On My Lord?: The Temptation of Jesus

triplee:

For Christians, the question is not will we face temptation, but how we will respond when we do. In Luke 4:1-2, we read about the temptation of Jesus and how He responded. Here’s the audio from a brief sermon I preached on that passage at my church a few months back. I wanted to look at Jesus’…

How are we righteous in the sight of God? It is assuredly in the same respect in which Christ was a sinner. For he assumed in a manner our place, that he might be a criminal in our room, and might be dealt with as a sinner, not for his own offenses, but for those of others, inasmuch as he was pure and exempt from every fault, and might endure the punishment that was due to us- not to himself. It is in the same manner, assuredly, that we are now righteous in him- not in respect of our rendering satisfaction to the justice of God by our own works, but because we are judged of in connection with Christ’s righteousness, which we have put on by faith, that it might become ours.

John Calvin

Read this slowly and let it sink in! I came across this quote while preparing for my message on 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 for the Campus Outreach National Conference. Good stuff

My feelings are not God. God is God. My feelings do not define truth. God’s word defines truth. My feelings are echoes and responses to what my mind perceives. And sometimes - many times - my feelings are out of sync with the truth. When that happens - and it happens every day in some measure - I try not to bend the truth to justify my imperfect feelings, but rather, I plead with God: Purify my perceptions of your truth and transform my feelings so that they are in sync with the truth.

John Piper, Finally Alive

And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Trapped in sin…..

People feel that they are so far into their sinful lifestyle that they can’t come to Jesus. If you ever want to be free from your sin you have to come to Jesus. He will take you as you are & change you. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9 ESV). God is not waiting for you to get your life right before you turn to Him. He wants you to come to Him, admit your weak, can’t change on your own & that you need him to change you. You can’t lean on your own strength to change your lifestyle. You have to trust in God’s sovereignty to change your lifestyle. “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV). If your sin is drunkenness, weed, sex, lying etc.. you can be free if you just turn to Jesus & trust in Him. Don’t let your sin keep you from seeking God. I have to constantly tell myself that too. There is no sin that you are to deep in that God can’t get you out of. Trust, repent, seek & commit….. Be free.

God Bless.

Do. Love. Walk.: Don't Waste Your Life

mikeclevenger:

“Life is wasted if we do not grasp the glory of the cross, cherish it for the treasure that it is, and cleave to it as the highest price of every pleasure and the deepest comfort in every pain. What was once foolishness to us—a crucified God—must become our wisdom and our power and our only…
